Marines in Chine: 1938, 5c Monroe bright blue ,tied by 4TH REG.U.S.M.C. SHANGHAI, CHINA NOV 12 1941 duplex with SEMPER FIDELIS slogan on envelope, no markings on reverse. (Scott 810 ) Est. Cash Val. $100 – 200
Mail from the 4th Regiment of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Shanghai, China sent to a business in Boston. The domestic 5c surface rate applied when U.S. mail service was in operation. The F.W. Foxon Company was managed the subscription service for the “American Journal of Numismatics” Scarce and desirable solo usage.
