UNITED STATES: Used to England; 1857 12c black Plate 1, HORIZONTAL PAIR ,tied by large NEWPORT RI 1859 c.d.s. on off white envelope addressed to Joseph Hazard, care of the Baring Brothers (merchant bank) known in the Browning correspondence, the envelope bears a red 19 matching circular PAID 24 and PAID UK JU 4 59 receiver.
