Newfoundland: 4 pence Type A group of 5 black and white photo exposures showing Sperati’s technique to remove the genuine postmark. ,Sperati was not able to copy a mint example of the genuine stamp so he carefully removed the cancel of a used copy and blank spots were later covered with a fake postmark. He produced photo prints in reverse and positive at various points in the process to check his work.
