UNITED STATES: POSTAL HISTORY: 1920’s to 1849; A Famous NY Local Training Ship U.S.S. Briarcliff 1920’s to 1940 history told in letters, newspaper clippings, and photos of this fondly remembered ship based in Staten Island New York City, as part of the 3rd Naval District 33 Division. One of the trainees was John Cody who became 2nd Engineer on board the Antartic Expedition. Includes a cute letter and radiogram from “Little America”. Contained all in one fat ring binder, very nostalgic .
